When Love is Not Enough - The Case of Clinique Chubby Stick Tint for Eyes

I'm not gonna lie: I've had it, and I've had it pretty bad. I'm talking about the chubby stick-itis. I mean to me they seem pretty much like a dream with their lovely colors you just swirl up from their cute and practical tubes. Then you just swoosh on the right amount of product with little effort onto lids, while you're at (the same mental) level with your three year old who thinks you're using her jumbo crayons in your daily 30 second make up routine ;) I mean I love these to pieces!

The colors Lots O' Latte (taupe) and Whopping Willow (the most amazing sage green with delicate golden shimmer)  still appear in my dreams at night, and yet, my love was not meant to be. My love must be suppressed. The formula is incredible in my opinion, mostly because it stayed in place all day long also on my oily lids, WITHOUT A PRIMER! Ok,  this effect was more prominent as I layered the color, but I liked it that way. Full opaque covering of gorgeousness with just the right amount of shimmer, and it even stayed perfect the whole day without the extra waste of time that is putting a primer. But. There is a but.

Chubby Stick Tints are a cream to powder formula, and they are on the drier side as far as eyeshadow pencils/crayons go. And therein lies the magic, I'm aware of that. But it also means that they are a bit hard, in fact, a little bit too hard for my taste. Applying them the way I wanted to (layering for opaque covering and full day resistance) did require some pushing and dragging on the eyelids, and I must say I found the experience somewhat painful. Besides the fact that dragging can wrinkle the eyelids (that are destined to wrinkle anyway with time so why rush it?), my eyeballs really suffered from it!

Therefore with a heavy heart, I must put these to pasture (read: find them a new home where they are appreciated. No make up product gets harmed under my roof!) and look in some other direction.

It was amazing though, while it lasted...
